booknow We are excited to announce the first ever public ghost hunt at Forty Hall. We have been invited to run this event at Forty Hall due to mysterious goings-on in the past & they are keen to know more.

This Grade I listed Jacobean Manor House is set within its own estate with lakes, walled, formal & informal gardens & meadows. Built by the former Lord Mayor of London, Sir Nicholas Rainton, in 1632, the hall stands on the edge of London and is important to architectural English history as a fine example on the cusp between the medieval to modern style. The house is also key to the understanding the growth of the Capital City and of the life & times of merchant classes.

The grounds of Forty Hall were once home to Elsyng Palace which was a childhood residence to both King Edward VI and Queen Elizabeth I.

The house itself has been reworked by a number of owners who lived there including the Meyers, Wolstenholmes and Parker Bowles but many of the architectural features remain from the seventeenth, eighteenth & nineteenth centuries.

The house was renovated & opened to the public back in 2012 and is used for private functions such as weddings but they also hold a good number of events throughout the year.

There have been speculation over a number of years that the house is haunted  & the house was featured in the book Haunted Enfield. The bed chamber is said to feel icy cold & gives people a general feeling of unease. The first floor staircase is also said to give the feeling of you being watched. We can’t wait to investigate & see what Forty Hall has in store for us!
